Sunday 24th September – venue Coronation Park, Chewton Street. Eastwood, Notts.
Eastwood Ladies CFC v Kettering Town LFC
Competition: East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division
It took just 17 minutes for the home team to open their account, Paige Singleton lifting the ball over the Kettering keeper from 12 yards. Eastwood keeper Vanessa Kinnerley had to be alert ten minutes later, diving to her left to push away a well struck free-kick from the opposition 10 shirt.
Kinnerley’s opposite number did well to keep out a Chantelle Robinson effort on 27, but the striker wasn’t to be denied for long, as a couple of minutes later her powerful 25 yard drive flew into the net with the keeper rooted to the spot. H-T 0-2
Robinson added the home teams third with just two minutes of the second half played, tapping home Holly Brindley’s perfect cross from just a few yards out. The roles were reversed for Eastwood’s fourth goal on 82, Robinson finding Brindley who ran to the edge of the box before firing across the keeper and into the far corner of the goal.
Another assist from Robinson for Eastwood’s fifth – this time she fed the ball to Amy Townsend whose cross-cum-shot deceived the Town keeper and flew straight in at the far stick. F-T 5-0
The win sees Eastwood sit atop the league on goal difference from Peterborough North Star. Eastwood’s next game? Away at Peterborough on 1st October!
